Shunned Acronyms

Rather than constantly using phrases such as EF'M no longer recognizes the use of UAB, etc., I'm going to keep this page active with a list of acronyms that I refuse to use and why I refuse to use them. Then I'll just link back to this page, and that should save me time and space, and for experienced readers, it should make reading a little easier.
  • Unattended Air Baggage (UAB) - This is a silly acronym that a side from the obvious flaw of not telling us anything of value, it also is not used by the packers. Instead, they ask you what is going into your air freight, thus this is the term EF'M will use.
  • House Hold Effects (HHE) - Similar to UAB, this acronym also does not tell us anything of value, nor is it used by the packers. Instead, they ask you what is going into your ground, surface or sea freight, thus EF'M will use ground/surface/sea freight instead.
  • Locally Employed Staff (LES) - This rather insulting acronym replaced the acceptable use of Foreign Service National (FSN). Why? It is beyond me. The new acronym is pronounced "less." As in, "Thank you sub-Americans for working at our embassy or consulate or whatever." Not acceptable, and EF'M will stick with FSN.
